Alvin Ong

Alvin Ong (b. 1988, Singapore) synthesizes histories, mythologies and folk-forms into surreal improvisations and non-linear narratives. At the age of 16, he became the youngest winner of the UOB Painting of the Year Award, Singapore (2005). He was shortlisted for the Red Mansion Art Prize, UK (2016) and was a finalist for HIX Art Award, UK (2017), and BP Portrait Award (2018). His works have been exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery, UK, Singapore Art Museum, the Asian Civilizations Museum, Singapore, Peranakan Museum, Singapore and Northampton Contemporary, UK. Ong graduated from Ruskin School of Art in Oxford, UK and undertook his masters at the Royal College of Art, London, UK.
