Bree Jonson (b. 1991, Philippines) conveys the tension and power struggles present in the human condition through her allegorical paintings of animals in scenes of fight and flight. These ruminations on the fragility and instability of human relationships are driven by the artist’s own constant displacement and alienation in her youth, growing up in a dysfunctional household. Striving to recreate these experiences, Jonson’s work presents her keen observations of the human relationships in all their trivialities, masked intentions and ephemerality. Jonson has exhibited extensively in the Philippines and in Germany, Japan, Malaysia and Singapore.
