Lucas Grogan’s (b. 1984, Australia) practice spans multiple disciplines including, drawing, painting, sculpture and embroidery. Working through an autobiographic lens, he explores themes such as identity, sexuality, shared humanity, spiritual divorce and isolationism, using techniques both traditional and radical to develop psycho-spiritual drawing, painting and needlework that is at once attractive and off-putting.
Grogan has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Australia, Hong Kong, France, USA, and UK. He created murals in cities throughout Australia, Bali (Indonesia) and Florida (USA), in addition to collaborations with popular brands and musicians. Public collections holding his work include the National Gallery of Australia; Deutsche Bank; Wesfarmers; Ararat Regional Art Gallery (Australia); and Newcastle Region Art Gallery (Australia).
