Dean Cross featured in Spectrum Magazine for the Sydney Morning Herald

“I thought I’d lost the perfect shot, but the more I watched [the video], the more I saw that the real competition was between the wood and the woodsmen, not the competitors. Every now and again the piece of timber gets one back. There’s something beautiful and strange that it doesn’t capitulate.”
Featured on the cover of Spectrum Magazine, Dean Cross showcases a 16-minute video of a felling tree stump story called Without You I Am Nothing (Curtis Bennett/White Ash). It captures an astonishing moment at the Goulburn Show when champion woodchopper, Curtis Burnett stops and walks away.
Eucalyptusdom opens at the Powerhouse Museum on July 1 and runs until May 1, 2022.
